Brazil Brazil Amazonas and Rio, is a journal from my Brazilian travels in 2011 and 2012. It is an attempt to document two ‘Brazils’ - the tough life on the Amazon river, in contrast to the hedonistic and beach worshipping life style of Rio de Janeiro. This diverse and overwhelming country is now host to the 2014 World Cup football series, and the 2016 Olympic Games. This guide aims to provide some insights into Brazilian national culture and identity, from street football and favelas, to the outrageous stories of the Amazon River, and the films, novels and popular culture attempting to record the vibrancy of the Brazilian way and the eternally optimistic Brazilian people.
